Privacy policy

Who we are

Mizwala is an Android app made by Kahf (Kahf Labs, “we”), an independent software lab in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].

What we keep, on your phone only

• Your city or approximate location, to calculate prayer times.
• Your prayer and adhan settings.
• Your reading position, khatmah markers, highlights and notes.
• Khatmah and adhkar progress, and a prayer log if you turn one on.

This travels with your phone’s own backup if you have it on, encrypted in your account, where we cannot see it. You can turn that off in Settings; then it is copied only when you export it yourself.

What we never collect

• Your precise location or your movements.
• Your name, email or number. There is no account at all.
• Your clipboard, contacts or photos.
• Any data for advertising or third parties, and no usage analytics.

When Mizwala goes online

Only to download what you ask for: a recitation, a tafsir or an adhan voice. When you start a khatmah, its week of reading is downloaded over Wi‑Fi while “Prepare the week’s wird first” is on. Nothing that identifies you is sent with any request, and afterwards everything works offline.

Permissions, and why

• Approximate location (optional): to calculate prayer times. You can pick your city by hand instead.
• Notifications: for adhan alerts.
• Exact alarms: so the adhan sounds on the minute.
• Full-screen display: for the adhan screen.

Your data, in your hands

• Export: Settings › Privacy › “Export my data to a file”.
• Delete: “Delete all my data from this phone” erases everything Mizwala kept. Uninstalling the app does the same.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date, and material changes are noted in the app’s release notes.
